2023-2024 SCHEDULE FOR APPLICATIONS TO THE COMMITTEE ON FACULTY STATUS

 

Tenure and promotion due dates

By March 6, 2023, candidates for promotion must inform their dean and department chair of their intent to apply for the Fall 2023. Tenure candidates will have already done so at an earlier date. A faculty member planning to apply for tenure and/or promotion should refer to the Guidelines for Tenure and Promotion link on the Faculty Status web page.

13 September: By this date, a candidate for tenure and/or promotion will provide permission to the Department Chair and department members to view application materials in Digication ePortfolio. The applicant will need to give each department member permission as a Viewer in ePortfolio; after the departmental review is completed, the applicant may remove permissions.

27 September: By this date, the Department Chair must provide the candidate with the department's letter for tenure and/or promotion. This letter must reflect the departmental discussion and subsequent vote for the candidate's application. The letter must be signed by the Department Chair or designee.

28 September: By this date, the candidate for tenure and/or promotion will add the department's letter, signed by the Department Chair, to their ePortfolio. The applicant will need to give their Dean permission as a Viewer in ePortfolio. After the Dean's review is completed, the applicant may remove the permission.

4 October: By this date, candidates should inform Laurie Fay (fay@siena.edu) of their intent to apply to the Committee on Faculty Status. This will ensure candidates are assigned to the ePortfolio Faculty Status Assessment Group. ePortfolio will accept final submission of applications only from those who are assigned to the Assessment Group.

12 October: By this date, the Dean's letter for tenure and/or promotion, signed by the Dean, must be given to the candidate. The candidate will upload the Dean's letter to ePortfolio. 

19 October: By close of business on this date, the candidate for tenure and/or promotion will submit a complete dossier via ePortfolio. Be sure to review Digication ePortfolio instructions, Submittal Process for ePortfolio.

Sabbatical DUE DATES

For reference and process information, a faculty member planning to apply for Sabbatical Leave should refer to Guidelines for Sabbaticals and Other Leaves of Absence on the Faculty Status web page.

26 September: By this date, a candidate for sabbatical will provide permission to the Department Chair and department members to view ePortfolio application documents in Digication ePortfolio. The applicant will need to give each department member permission as a Viewer in ePortfolio; after the Departmental review is completed, the applicant may remove permissions.

11 October:  By this date, the Department Chair must provide the candidate with the department's letter for sabbatical. This letter must reflect the departmental discussion and subsequent vote on the candidate's application, as well as a comprehensive plan for all sabbatical or other leave coverage for the year.  The department’s letter must be signed by the Department Chair or designee.

16 October: By this date, a candidate for sabbatical will add the department's letter, signed by the Department Chair, to their ePortfolio, and provide permission to the Dean to view application documents.  The applicant will need to give the Dean permission as a Viewer in ePortfolio.  After the Dean’s review is completed, the applicant may remove the permission.

30 October: By this date, the Dean's letter for sabbatical must be provided to the candidate.  The letter must be signed by the Dean.  The candidate will upload the Dean’s letter to ePortfolio.

30 October: By this date, candidates should inform Laurie Fay (fay@siena.edu) of their intent to apply to the Committee on Faculty Status.  This will ensure candidates are assigned to the ePortfolio Faculty Status Assessment Group.  ePortfolio will accept final submission only from those who are assigned to the Assessment Group.  

6 November: By close of business on this date, candidates for sabbatical leave will submit their application via Digication ePortfolio

Emeritus DUE DATES

For reference and process information for application or nomination to Emeritus status, refer to Faculty Handbook, Section II.B.f., Professor Emeritus.

26 January, 2024: By this date, application and/or nomination materials for emeritus status must be submitted to Laurie Fay (fay@siena.edu) in Academic Affairs.

Spring 2024 Schedule for Applications to the Committee on Faculty Status

18 January: By this date, the contingent faculty candidate for promotion to Teaching Professor will provide permission to the department head and department members to view ePortfolio application documents. The applicant will need to give each department member permission as a Viewer in ePortfolio; after the review is completed, the applicant may remove the permissions.

1 February: By this date, the department chair must provide the candidate with the department's letter for promotion to Teaching Professor. This letter must reflect the departmental discussion and subsequent vote for the candidate's application; the letter must be signed by the department chair.

2 February: By this date, a candidate for promotion to Teaching Professor will add the department's letter to the ePortfolio, and provide permission for the dean to view ePortfolio application documents. The applicant will need to give their dean permission as a Viewer in ePortfolio. After the dean's review is completed, the applicant may review the permission.

16 February: By this date, the dean's letter for promotion to Teaching Professor must be provided to the candidate. The letter must be signed by the dean.

16 February: By this date, the candidate should inform Laurie Fay (fay@siena.edu) of their intent to apply to the Committee of Faculty Status. This will ensure candidates are assigned to the ePortfolio Faculty Status Assessment Group.

23 February: By close of business on this date, the candidate for promotion to Teaching Professor will submit a complete dossier via the ePortfolio 2023-24 Assignment Group. Be sure to review Digication ePortfolio instructions regarding submittal process for ePortfolio.
